Your new partial represents a serious investment in restoring the full function and appearance of your mouth. Just like your natural teeth, it needs to be cleaned and maintained on a daily basis to make sure it will last for years to come.

Many people with partials like to use denture adhesive to hold the unit in place and block out food particles keep food particles. If food particles do work their way between the base of your partial and your gums, you should rinse away all of the adhesive away before reapplying.

Your partial will also need to be rinsed each night when you take it out. This will keep the unit clean of plaque, food particles and residual adhesive giving you a clean surface the next morning.

You can then brush the contours of the partial with a soft bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste or denture polish. You should then soak it in water, overnight and store it in a safe place.

You can then continue your normal oral hygiene routine of brushing and flossing your teeth. Remember to floss in the gum line around all of your teeth, especially the teeth neighboring the partial.
